Lesson Title: “Let Them Go” Persuasive Writing Lesson

This lesson takes place after students read the “The Cyclops” section of The Odyssey in ninth grade English class. After learning about OINC (organize, introduction, needs support and conclusion), students write a practice paragraph trying to persuade the teacher to not give the assignment. The lesson ends with a timed writing assignment where students write a speech from Odysseus’ point of view persuading the Cyclops to let him and his men go.
